What will happen when he actually crawls?
So, even though he can't crawl yet, Zane is wearing me out. He's got forearms like Popeye and and just drags himself wherever he needs to go. He apparently doesn't need me anymore, as he can easily find food and water around the house. Way to survive, Zane!

New Tricks
Zane learned a new trick today!
Part 1: I went in to get him after a nice long afternoon nap and, lo and behold, he was trying to escape! This came as quite a shock, since he's never sat up on his own before. He was delighted in himself, as well as his mommy who squealed and clapped and screamed for him to stay where he was so she could get the camera.
Part 2: Daddy put him down for the night and he cried like he was being tortured for a good fifteen minutes. Now, he usually cries himself to sleep, but this seemed different. I went to check on him and, lo and behold, he again was sitting up. This time he was not delighted as he obviously wanted to lay down, but didn't know how.
Conclusion: I guess the can had to be invented before the can opener? I suppose he will eventually learn to lay himself down.

The Beginning
Well, Zane finally fell asleep. Should be easier to concentrate on this blog. We did bedtime a little differently tonight. It started with dinner at the Davis home (pizza, also a new and delightful experience), a half-hour drive home (without falling asleep) and no bath. Then nursing, a story and into the crib with narry an eye rub in sight. I suppose it's good to mix it up a bit - don't want the little guy to get into a rut, right?
